A world of colour and texture

Some notes on my work .........

In my journey as an artist I have covered a wide range of themes and there are some I find I keep returning to.  Ships, buildings and nature are common subjects in my work although I have spent a few years exploring the circus.  My most recent work has involved research into local history to find out about old Irvine buildings and also the clipper ship the City Of Adelaide which spent  twenty four years at Irvine harbour before her final journey to Australia in 2013.

I enjoy working with various materials within my artwork such as fabric, card, gold leaf and anything that will add texture and dimension to the work.  My artwork is created in my head from whatever has inspired me and then planned out in sketchbooks before coming up with a final design idea.  I love to use colour to convey whatever feelings I have about the subject matter.

I have tried to show a variety of work here including paintings and handmade felt pieces.  Some of the images are available to buy as originals or prints.  I hope you enjoy them!
